This course will look at the fundamentals of marketing and management from the perspective of individuals who are looking to promote sports and entertainment events.  This class is designed as a higher level business course with approximately half of the assessments coming from individual and group projects.  Students will complete a variety of tasks including creating their own television station, creating their own college bowl game, completing a marketing research plan, and organizing, promo toting, and running a high school sporting event.  Students will get the opportunity to learn such marketing basics as target market, the 4 P’s of marketing, and the functions of sports management but to apply these concepts in real world situations.  This is not a course which students will watch Sportscenter every class.  Rather this is a class which students will understand why the sports teams shown on Sportscenter equal billions of dollars of potential revenues and millions of jobs across the country.
